Passwords

Your Password is Your Responsibility

All accounts, passwords, and other types of authorization (NKU keys, access cards, etc) are the responsibility of the user and are not to be shared with others. If another person needs access, he/she is to go through the proper procedures to acquire his/her own access to computers, systems, and applications which are property of NKU.

When an employee leaves a department or leaves NKU completely, HR and IT must be notified immediately to protect and prevent damage to NKU systems or data. Upon notification to IT, the employee’s accounts will be disabled appropriately.

Reminder:   NEVER EVER SHARE YOUR PASSWORD   through email or other forms of electronic communication.  NKU and any other legitimate business will never request this or any other confidential information through electronic means.

Requirements

Passwords are required to be at least eight (8) characters in length and consist of both letters and numbers. Passwords will expire every 90 days. The last five (5) passwords used will be stored by the system and cannot be used twice, therefore users will be required to create a new password every 90 days.
