Green Computing The Northern Kentucky University Datacenter has started a “go green” process. Through the use of virtualization software, Information Technology has migrated 25 (physical) servers to five (physical) servers, saving NKU in electrical, cooling and maintenance costs. These virtual servers give us the ability to respond more quickly to campus requests for services such as sharepoint, web servers, etc. Migration to virtual servers will continue the next couple of years to further reduce electrical and cooling needs. |
